If you want to give money for Breast cancer research, avoid buying pink products!

Please give your money directly to cancer research, if you want to help find a cure.  Those pretty pepto pink products only give a tiny fraction of their proceeds to help find a cure.  You would find a cure faster keeping your money in your pocket than buying trinkets and household appliances that you won't use.  All of the pink-tober product have a name, it is called pink washing.  You find pink products all year long, but mainly you will find the over saturation of breast cancer pink and Susan G Koman products in October.  Let me remind you of something far more important about October.  Do a self breast exam, get a mammogram, set up a physical.  Those things are far more important to do than buy a pink George Foreman grill!

There is a name for what I have-pancytopenia.

The past couple of day I have felt very barfy, fatigued and weak.  On my labs from Friday everything was low.  My wbc was .8.  My red blood cells were low as was my monocytes, lymphocytes, and platelets.  Along with a bunch of other stuff that they count.  I didn't have my tumor markers run this past week, so I have no idea where they are at.  I got pretty sick yesterday and today looks like a repeat, but I managed to take anti nausea meds in time to ward off the actual projectile vomiting,  YAY!  Or so I thought, until my son and I ran an errand at walmart and I barfed water in the parking lot while some old lady and her husband in the next car looked on.  Not so yay!  It made me wonder if there is a word for having all your counts be low.  So I looked it up and sure enough it is called pancytopenia.  Here is the definition in case you want to know.

Pancytopenia - a lowering of all three types of blood cells; red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells, which may lead to low red blood cell count, low blood platlet count, and/or low white blood cell count.

So, if you are a researchy sort of person and like to know these things, the word of the day is pancytopenia.

I am now in my pjs, and plan on taking the rest of the day easy while reclining in the lazy boy and maybe watch tv with my son.  Crackers are my friend!
