The past couple of day I have felt very barfy, fatigued and weak. On my labs from Friday everything was low. My wbc was .8. My red blood cells were low as was my monocytes, lymphocytes, and platelets. Along with a bunch of other stuff that they count. I didn't have my tumor markers run this past week, so I have no idea where they are at. I got pretty sick yesterday and today looks like a repeat, but I managed to take anti nausea meds in time to ward off the actual projectile vomiting, YAY! Or so I thought, until my son and I ran an errand at walmart and I barfed water in the parking lot while some old lady and her husband in the next car looked on. Not so yay! It made me wonder if there is a word for having all your counts be low. So I looked it up and sure enough it is called pancytopenia. Here is the definition in case you want to know.
Pancytopenia - a lowering of all three types of blood cells; red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells, which may lead to low red blood cell count, low blood platlet count, and/or low white blood cell count.
So, if you are a researchy sort of person and like to know these things, the word of the day is pancytopenia.
I am now in my pjs, and plan on taking the rest of the day easy while reclining in the lazy boy and maybe watch tv with my son. Crackers are my friend!
