my body is becoming my enemy
Hello friends,
Hasn't this Summer gone so quickly? It started out very busy and fun and lately has been just routine and regular. I have fallen back into a routine of living from chemo to chemo and from one oncology appointment to the next. At my most recent appointment a week ago, we discussed the possibility that my extremely bloated mid section could be caused by fluid build up in my abdominal cavity. I will be going in for a ct scan on the 29th, but that is over 2 weeks away. In the meanwhile, I am as I said, living from appointment to appointment. Don't get me wrong, I have had fun in the in-between times. We took time out for a trip to Tx to see our son. It was a quick visit, but I enjoyed every second of it. I have taken a couple of trips downtown Chicago with my daughter, and have spent a lot of time just relaxing in the yard with the Mo bear. The past few weeks I have walked Sadie's little paws ragged going out to play pokemon go with her and the rest of the family. You are never too old to play you know.
I would like to say I have living with cancer down pat, but things are always changing. I feel the fluid in my lungs increasing. It makes it harder and harder to breathe. I have the aforementioned possible fluid in my abdomen, or perhaps I have just become obese. My level of pain and discomfort has been steadily increasing and I no longer feel comfortable within my own body. It is as if it has waged war on me. One thing I can state is this. It can destroy my body, but it will never take my soul or change my mind and heart! Part of taking back control of my body is asking for a referral to speak with a counselor at my next oncology appointment. I am also going to check in to what I need to do to have Sadie become an emotional support dog. My anxiety is becoming an issue again, despite medication for it, and I feel myself giving in to panic attacks. She is laser targeted in to that anxiety and will start licking me as if to calm me down. Such an amazing little soul Sadie has.
So folks, be looking for my latest video in a few hours, and I will see you next week when I upload part two, "living with metastatic breast cancer".

People without medical/living with cancer experience, give me there suggestions on getting cured
This is just one example of the daily barrage of advice and opinions I receive from people who A. don't have a medical degree and, B. have zero experience living with terminal cancer. I chose this one example because it is the most consistent and because this person advised me in a vegetarian fb group while discussing recipes for making home made seitan (mock meat) Seeing me name as Leslie's cancer confessions this person decided to "educate"me. Despite the fact that I have lived with my mets well beyond my life expectancy. ( which in my opinion makes ME the expert) And the fact that I am thriving. I have to say, don't these people think if there was something that had a legitimate indication that it would help us life longer that the cancer community wouldn't have already tried it. But seriously folks, as a vegetarian, I feel I am doing my fair part with the dietary portion of my treatment. A huge majority of the suggestions I get are fringe science, that are unproven, unsafe, and downright quackery. So, below you will find the google plus post I received.
Thank you for stopping by,

two days ago this was posted on my google plus. I honestly don’t know how people can think that I wouldn’t try everything I could try to stay alive. This is vile, so I hope it doesn’t offend you, but it isn’t MY opinion, this was said to me.

1Reply +Leslie Bowlus I will NEVER live with terminal cancer, because I understand what cancer is and how the body works, you think that you randomly by some form of luck “caught” cancer. I have seen MANY “terminal” “cancers” healed and people are living a normal life today free of all issues. Don’t get angry or take things personal just because you don’t understand, you can continue to blame random acts and continue to suffer or you can fix yourself and beat cancer, its your choice, I am helping people beat it everyday, but I don’t walk the walk for them, I just arm them with truthful information.
If I was diagnosed with “terminal cancer” I would immediately get on a fasting, fruit, fruit juice program with some alkaline herbs, eating as little as I could and allowing my body the ability to heal, I have already healed myself from diabetes, acid reflux, heartburn, acne, inflammation, arthritis, and I lost 110 lbs in 6 months with no loose skin. I am a living example of what I speak. Thank you. 1Reply +Leslie Bowlus I will NEVER live with terminal cancer, because I understand what cancer is and how the body works, you think that you randomly by some form of luck “caught” cancer. Living with cancer isn't always about cancer. (a day at McHenry dam wti...
This was posted to my google plus feed by someone two days ago. I live a vegetarian lifestyle. I have juiced, taken vitamin c and done so many proven therapies to stay alive. I am at the 5 yr mark of living with metastatic breast cancer, which makes me a sort of outlier in the mets community because we don't normally survive beyond the 3 yr mark. I must be doing something right, yet "experts" such as this continue to share with me their opinions. I won't waste another moment of my life on such vitriol. I just wanted to share with you what sort of crap people feel free to share with me on the daily.
